Vertical Gallery is very proud to present the solo exhibition “The end of cute” with leading German graffiti artists and storytellers HERAKUT. The exhibition will be at the prestigious SCOPE Art Fair on Miami Beach, December 3 – 8, 2019.
After joining forces in 2004, HERA (Jasmin Siddiqui) and AKUT (Falk Lehmann) merged their names and styles to collaborate as HERAKUT. Since then, the duo have been painting murals all over the world, along with additional work on canvas, paper and film for gallery and museum shows. This is the duo’s first solo exhibition with Vertical Gallery. Vertical has hosted two solo exhibitions with HERA (2016 and 2018).
HERAKUT consider themselves as “storytellers” who want to share their thoughts and questions with the public, so their figurative work is always accompanied with text. Their process of painting is also a dialogue with both artists adding their individual techniques to the piece. Jasmin uses her drawing skills on finding the form and proportion of their characters, while Falk specializes on painting the photorealistic elements.
Hera was born in 1981 in Frankfurt, Germany. She studied Visual Communication/Graphic Design at the University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden. She started graffiti in 2000. Akut was born in 1977 in Schmalkalden, Germany. He studied Visual Communication/Graphic Design at Bauhaus University in Weimar. He started graffiti in 1991.
