Jamie Jones
Jamie Jones tears off the mask of adulthood to depict the child within, portraying preteens made up as pop culture icons — imagined identities that conceal the true self.
UK-born, Cyprus-based Jamie launched his professional art career during the COVID-19 pandemic after enjoying considerable success in the hospitality industry, owning and operating a series of bars as well as consulting for Michelin-starred establishments across the globe. (The so-called “Cocktail Hobbit” even claimed Diageo World Class GB Bartender of the Year honors in 2017.) A series of group shows preceded Jamie’s first solo showcase, ‘Mnimoniko,’ presented in 2022; ‘Misled Youth’ followed a year later, and introduced his now-signature portraits of children costumed as Marvel and DC Comics characters. “It came from what I feel a lot of us are missing from our lives: the things that made us happy and joyous as children,” Jamie says. “I want to take you back to that era in your life where your greatest superpower was that you could be anything you wanted to be.”
In the wake of ‘Misled Youth,’ Cyprus’ M Boutique Hotel tapped Jamie to create artwork for each one of the adults-only resort’s 235 rooms, a project he completed in just six weeks. Jamie will close out 2025 as one of the artists featured in Vertical Gallery’s all-star Aqua Art Miami lineup — his very first exhibition on U.S. shores.
