Gemma Compton
Gemma Compton’s highly stylized works explore ideas of love and loss portrayed through natural form. Her detailed ‘Mother Nature’ portraiture depicts a strong female presence joined with the symbolism of florals, insects and birds to represent the transcendence of life. Gemma creates her artworks mainly in shades of blue which is representative of 18th century porcelain, expressing her own physical fragility after suffering serious injuries in a road traffic accident at the age of 18.
