Brian Dovie Golden is a Chicago-based painter. Melding highly traditional portraiture with his signature graffiti-driven Fiend illustrations, his work brings the grit and energy of street art to a quiet, contemplative, and highly personal space. In doing so, Golden initiates dialogues around race, gender, mental health, and the resounding influences of popular culture.
Golden studied Graphic Design/Multimedia Production at the International Academy of Design and Technology, where he earned his BFA in 2007. He was awarded first prize at the Black Creativity Expo at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago in 2018. He currently lives and works in Chicago.
