2CHOEY
Bangkok-based 2CHOEY playfully but forcefully challenges the conventions of pop-art portraiture. His signature characters, “Fingies,” forgo eyes and mouths in favor of radically different tools of self-expression: fingers, hands and fists.
2CHOEY (real name: Cherdsak Moeikunmak) studied urban architecture and toiled in advertising before attracting Pacific-wide attention for comic strip-inspired murals in locales including Melbourne, Australia, where he lived for two years. The self-taught artist rose to even greater heights when he was selected by Malaysia’s AirAsia to customize the exterior of one of its flagship A320-200 airliners. Vertical Gallery first featured 2CHOEY’s work as part of our 2022 Winter Group Show, and two months later he was one of 10 artists handpicked for ‘Nine,’ our ninth anniversary group exhibit. ‘Sorry I can’t talk right now,’ 2CHOEY’s first U.S. solo show, followed at Vertical’s Chicago headquarters in 2023, and in 2024 we teamed again for ‘On My Way,’ his solo debut in France, presented at the annual Urban Art Fair in the heart of Paris.
